#431 - Help Me Love Unconditionally
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor
Dear Father, I'm not sure we grasp what love is. Love is not a feeling. It is a decision. It is a commitment. It is an oath. It is a promise. It is a pledge. True love commits to someone and then will not take that love back under any circumstance. It is permanent. Unconditional love bears all the frustrations the other person can cause. Unconditional love believes that no matter how bad a person may be there is still hope God can transform them. Unconditional love keeps forgiving over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. Unconditional love wants the best for the other person, no matter what condition their life is in. Unconditional love desires to serve the other person continuously. Unconditional love would stand in front of a firing squad to take the bullets meant for a nasty person. Father, unconditional love means that there is nothing, nothing, nothing, and nothing that the other person can do which could ever cause a reduction in my love for them. Father, unconditional love is what You expect me to give my spouse, my children, my parents, my siblings, my relatives, my friends, my neighbors, my co-workers, my clients, etc.,. What's the kind of love You enjoy seeing? Love for the most despicable person imaginable. Father, help me to truly love like Jesus Christ does - unconditionally. Amen.
