#453 - Tolerance
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor

Dear Father, I am exhausted with it all. Discrimination. Intolerance. Bigotry. Prejudice. Haters. Every day we are bombarded ad nauseum with tales of people being offended by other people. What is this all about? It begins with our source of value and security. Father, You are God and we are not. We were made to find comfort in that. You love us. You care for us. You watch over us. We love and obey You in return. Obey? Every command of yours is for our good. Obedience to God is a prescription for a good and enjoyable life. If we would surrender our lives to You, we would know how incredibly valued and secure we are. Ah, but we are not going to surrender our lives to You. We are our own god. We are going to do our own thing. We are going to do what we want to do and when we want to do it. We will make our own decisions and define for ourselves what is right and wrong. We don't ask You for help. We are on our own and that is fine with us. This produces intense anxiety and insecurity. We know we are not God while at the same time we depend upon ourselves to be our own god. We are broken. We are dysfunctional in every area of our lives. We live in fear of many things. We panic. We are confused. We put up walls and barriers. We are messed up people. Where do we turn for help? "Experts" who have no clue what the problem with humanity is. Instead, they speak to us about our self-esteem. They tell us how wonderful us little rebels from God are. They tell us to be who we want to be. They tell us to do what we want to do. They tell us to define for ourselves what is right and wrong. It is a lie. Our enemy is proud of himself. This self-help "love who you are" psychology doesn't work. It is snake oil. However, turning our hearts back to God is banned from therapy. All we have is the snake oil. People go to their death chanting the mantra "love who you are", enslaved to their anxiety and insecurities to the very end. Welcome to the world of tolerance. Tolerance - Tell me how wonderful I am just the way I am. Intolerance - The offensive act of telling me that God has loving changes to make in my life. Anyone who loves us genuinely wants to free us from our anxieties and insecurities. They know that freedom comes from surrendering our lives to God. They encourage us to turn to God and cry out for mercy. They understand that many cannot see the big lie of "tolerance" because they are blinded by their rebellion from You. People who truly love You are gracious, compassionate, loving, merciful, and understanding. They understand that the rebellious need to be treated gently. As Your Son said on the cross, "Father, forgive them. They don't know what they are doing." Anyone who doesn't care about the anxieties and insecurities in our heart tells us to stay just the way we are. "Hater! Bigot!" shouts our enemy. "Hater! Bigot!" shouts a crowd listening to his lead. The people who are truly loving, those who want You to free people's hearts, are silenced. Millions of people will go to bed tonight believing a lie, that "tolerance" for our rebellious hearts is love. However, our enemy laughs hysterically, knowing that "tolerance" for our rebellious hearts is hate. Father, may I be intolerant of people's rebellion from You. The day I begin to tolerate it is the day I stop being loving of my neighbor. May I remember that calling anyone to turn their hearts back to You is done with compassion, mercy, kindness, and gentleness. Help me not to accept that my friend or neighbor is suffering living as their own god. Help me to love them to freedom. There's nothing to fear and peace of mind to gain. Amen.
