#494 - My Home Doesn't Feel Like Home
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor
Dear Father, home should be where I feel loved. Home should be where my love is wanted. Home should be where I can be imperfect me and it is fine. Home should be where I can feel safe and secure physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Home is where the Holy Spirit does what He does, bonding and uniting family members in Christ. However, my home isn't anything like that. My home is a place of dysfunction, bitterness, resentment, hostility, threats, insults, criticism, anxiety, stress, fear, and worry. I hate coming back home. I'd rather stay at friends' houses. I'd rather be doing anything whatsoever than to be at home. Father, my home is where I must live. I have no choice. I need You to protect my heart. Don't let my relationship with You suffer because of the presence of such evil in my home. Don't let my character or my testimony become something I'm ashamed of. Father, forgive me for all I've done to contribute to the emotional climate of my home. Forgive me for how my efforts to be my own god, my doubt of you, and my worshipping of other things stirred up trouble in the home. I surrender to You. Now make me an agent of peace and healing in this home. Give me another home where my heart and soul can be safe. My local church. My family of spiritual brothers and sisters. A family that has confessed and repented of their rebellion. A family that loves You and others. Make such a church my home. Amen.
