#500 - My Loved One is Missing
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor
Dear Father, my loved one has gone missing. I can't reach them by phone. They've ignored all my voice mails. They don't respond to my text messages. They don't respond to emails. They've gone silent on social media. I've called around and they haven't been seen at their home or place of employment. Father, I'm frightened. I'm terrified. Where are they? Did they die? Are they seriously hurt somewhere? Did someone kidnap them? Father, this isn't like them. They always take my calls or get back to me. Help. Father, this is the time to resolve in my mind that You are God and I am not.It is obvious I am not God. If I was, I'd transport myself this second to wherever they are. I'd wiggle my nose or click my fingers and they'd suddenly appear in front of me. If I was God, I could speak and whatever troubles they are facing I could immediately fix. However, I am not You. Few things have ever made it so clear that I am not God than this moment. I am helpless. Father, oddly enough, my comfort comes from the fact that You are God. They say there are no atheists in foxholes. Well, there are no rebels from God when their lack of supernatural power is so blatantly obvious in a time of crisis. We cry out to You because we know You are God. You are with our loved one right now. You know what is going on in their life. You can intervene and protect and deliver them. Father, I trust in Your wisdom to decide what is right and Your power to do what You determine needs to be done for them. I ask that when I discover how You have intervened in their life that I will be showering You with thanksgiving and praising. Amen.
