Dear Father, thank You for my friendships. As a collection, they represent Your love for me. Father, how do You comfort me in my time of need? Through friends. - How do You provide for me when I need help? Through friends. - How do You teach me things I need to learn about myself? Through friends. - How do I learn to interact with other human beings? Through friends. - How do I learn to be compassionate to others? Through friends. - How do I learn to be forgiving to others? Through friends. - How do I enjoy life? With friends. - Who celebrates my accomplishments and joys? Friends. - Who is there for me when others have abandoned me? Friends. - Father, You are clearly present and sovereign in the friendships in my life. You are the Master Friend who shows His friendship through all the human friends You give me. Thank You for them all. If I alienate people, I won't have friends. If I push people away from me, I won't have friends. If I setup walls and barriers, I won't have friends. If I am judgmental, unkind, and self-centered, I won't have friends. Father, if I'm lacking deep personal friendships it may very well be a statement about how unfriendly I have been to others. It may also be a statement about how I don't trust You in friendships. I live in fear of being hurt. I live in fear of being abandoned. I don't trust You to watch over me and protect me in friendships. Therefore, I keep people away and the price I pay is a scarcity of genuine friendships. Without friends, I cannot and will not grow emotionally and spiritually. Father, I confess I have doubted You in my friendships. I have rebelled. Please forgive me. Fill me up now with the Holy Spirit that I might truly love others. Please bless me with friendships so that I might continue to grow as a man or woman of God. Father, abundantly bless each of the friends in my life today. Amen.
