#553 - My Friends Are Getting Together
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor
Dear Father, I want to thank You for the friends You have given me. Each one of them. We have shared our daily lives together. The joys and the sorrows. The victories and the losses. We have laughed and we have cried. We have helped each other navigate through waves of emotions. We have helped each other make decisions. We have talked about what's going on in our worlds and helped each other make sense of it. We have dreamed about the future with each other. Father, friends like the ones I have had are wonderful. I have faithful friends from childhood. I have faithful friends from college. I have met new friends in my adult life who have been a blessing to me. There are dear friends who I've lost touch with but I think about them often. I ask You to be with them, wherever they are, whatever they are doing, and through whatever they are dealing with. They are all a part of the family of friends You have given me throughout my life. Blessings to them all. However, tonight, I'm getting together with the friends who are close to me right now. They may be in my life for just a season. They may be in my life till my dying day. These are the people You have called me to love and care for tonight. Help me to demonstrate to them what a true godly friend is like. Conversation. Generosity. Compassion. Grace. Kindness. My time tonight with my friends is an opportunity to practice being the kind of man or woman You want me to be. I ask that I do just that and You make this a wonderful night of laughter, joy, bonding, and safety. Amen.
