#642 - I Don't Need Anyone
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor
Dear Father, I don't need anyone or anything. I am all that I need. I can handle everything on my own. I don't need relationships. I don't need counsellors. I don't need mentors. I don't need help from anyone. I am my own god. Father, I am mortal. I have limited skills, resources, knowledge, and expertise. Therefore, I need other people in my life to offset my weaknesses and vulnerabilities. If I need A, B, and C, I need people in my life who have A, B, and C. I need to have trusting and dependable relationships with them. This means that I need to meet their needs and to be an asset in their lives. Give and take. I need people and people need me. It's how You designed society. No man or woman can thrive on their own. However, we like to think of ourselves as our own god. We delude ourselves into thinking we can handle it all, a belief system that will certainly lead to failure. Father, my enemy would love me to think I can do anything. I don't need others. I don't need You. He knows that, with such an attitude, my life will soon be devastated by folly and arrogance. Father, I need You and I need the people You bring into my life to help me. Father, forgive me. Strengthen me to be the man or woman You want me to be through the relationships with the people You bring into my life. Amen.
