Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor

Dear Father, I live to please people. I surrender my goals to please the person I'm with. I surrender my needs to please the person I'm with. I surrender my desires to please the person I'm with. I don't want anyone to reject me. I don't want anyone to be bored with me. I go through my life never satisfied with my relationships, what people think of me, or who I am. Why? Because I'm never honest about who I am. The unique person I am has goals, needs, desires, tastes, beliefs, values, perspectives, preferences, and interests. I'm the unique way I am because You made me the way I am. However, I stifle who I am. I keep who I am in a box, secreted away in the corner of the attic. All in the name of pleasing everyone else. Who suffers a loss? The people You wanted me to touch by being the person You intended me to be. Father, living to please people means there is something wrong with my heart. You are the only person I should live to please. When I live to please You the people around me will enjoy the person You intended me to be. Father, help me to stop being a people pleaser and begin to be the unique one-of-a-kind person I was designed to be. You have lives for me to touch. Amen.
