#723 - I'm in High School
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor
Dear Father, I am in high school. School bells. Homeroom. Classes. Assembly. Lunch. After school activities. Homework. Teachers. Counselors. Tutors. Nurses. Coaches. Principal. Bake sales. Sports. Prom. Homecoming. Talent shows. Coffee houses. Literary magazines. School plays. PTO. SATs. Friends. Bullies. Peer pressure. Cliques. Teasing. Outcast. Loneliness. Father, I am quite ready to get out of here. I've had enough of school. I want to be an adult. I'm tired of being treated like a child. I'm tired of so many of my peers acting like little children. Can graduation come any faster? Father, I want to mature emotionally and spiritually. I want to become a responsible adult. I don't want to remain stuck in adolescence. Father, protect me from being hurt by classmates who have no filter on their hearts, minds, or tongues. Help me to do well in school, to learn what I am to learn. Help me never to give in to peer pressure. Help me to care about my classmates, many of whom have dysfunctional family lives. Give me friends who want to be responsible as well. Help me to connect with teachers and counselors who truly want to bring out the best in students. Father, speaking of which, I pray Your blessings on the teachers in my school. The good ones are making a difference in student's lives. Bless them. Strengthen them. Give them wisdom and insight. They have such a critical job in our society. How many days until graduation? I can't wait to get out of here. Amen.
