#751 - I Was Pulled Over for a Traffic Violation
Volume 2 - Prayers to Love Our Neighbor
Dear Father, I was pulled over today for a traffic violation. Speeding. Running a red light. Not signaling, Crossing the median. Driving in a car pool lane. Not stopping for a school bus. Not stopping for pedestrians. Not using a seat belt. Driving on the shoulder. Passing in a no passing zone. Reckless driving. Driving without proper insurance, inspections, or registration. Father, it is such a horrible feeling to look in the rearview mirror and see a police officer with lights motioning us to pull over. We were caught. In most cases, we are guilty. We can either fess up and admit our guilt or we can argue, knowing full well we argue without integrity. Father, we are a people who try to get away with as much as we can. We don't like the letter of the law - federal law, state law, township law, or Your law. We want freedom to do whatever we want, wherever we want, and whenever we want to do it. How many otherwise godly people would come to a complete stop at a stop sign in the middle of the desert with no car around for miles? Father, we are the same with You. We would try to get away with a lot more if we believed You were looking elsewhere. However, You are always watching. You are the speed trap on every mile of the highway of life. You are always, always, always watching. Thank You. Thank You that I know You are watching because it holds me accountable. It keeps me obedient to You when I'd rather disobey. Father, I was guilty for this traffic violation. I deserved the points and the fine. I ask for Your generosity and mercy and that You help me pay for this. Most importantly, I pray that You use this experience to remind me that I am accountable to You for every moment of my life. Amen.
